Aims and Intent

At Cherry Fold, we aim to prepare our learners for their future by giving them the opportunities to gain knowledge and develop skills that will equip them for an ever changing digital world. Knowledge and understanding of ICT is of increasing importance for children’s future both at home and for employment. Our Computing curriculum focuses on a progression of skills in digital literacy, computer science, information technology and online safety to ensure that children become competent in safely using, as well as understanding, technology. Our intention is that Computing also supports children’s creativity and cross curricular learning to engage children and enrich their experiences in school.

EYFS

Although computing and technology is not a discrete strand within the EYFS anymore it is still a vital part of children's development. The children are taught about different types of modern technology and their uses, they explore how things work and ask questions to find out more information. The children are exposed to many different types of technology and investigate how they are beneficial in their lives. The children have access to different computer programmes to support their learning and extend their understand of the world. This may include google earth to look at where they live or google maps to look at where their school is. The priority for our EYFS children is to teach them online safety and how to keep themselves safe in an everchanging and fast paced technological world.
