Welcome to

3K-The Olympians

Miss Kolaitis, Miss Collins and Miss Parvez

'Education is one thing no one can take away from you.'

Welcome to our class page! In 3K, we uphold the Cherry Fold ethos of Enjoy, Respect and Succeed throughout all aspects of school life in our calm and nurturing learning environment. Together, we will combine hard work with lots of fun, empowering us to become confident, passionate and successful learners.

We follow a theme based curriculum; this term will involve some fantastic topics such as becoming geographers by studying weather conditions, historians by looking at life in the Stone Age. In science, we will be working scientifically by studying rocks, soils and fossils. In PSHE, our topic is 'Being my Best' and in RE, we will be looking at Sikhism.

See our full curriculum below.

Please make sure you are connected to both Class Dojo and Parentmail so you don't miss out on any updates from school - these include after school clubs. Finally, please do not hesitate to contact me with any problems or concerns you may be experiencing. You can message on Class Dojo or make an appointment at the school office.

We are looking forward to a busy Summer term where we are continuing to strive to be the best we can be!

Reading

Children will have a reading book chosen by themselves appropriate to their ZPD reading level.

Accompanying these books are their reading diaries, where we encourage you to write comments on their reading.

Your child will also be given many opportunities throughout the week to read a variety of texts and will then undertake an online quiz to assess their understanding of the text.

Please could I ask that you support your child’s reading progress by listening to them read 2-3 times a week.

PPA Time

I will be out of class on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons.

On these days, Mrs. Wylie will cover ICT, RE, Music and French.

Get ready for lots of enjoyable activities!

Our wonderful learning environment and Working Walls

Bunny Hop - 27.03.24

We had a fun time raising money for Pendleside Hospice, a huge thank you to everyone who supported us!

Take a look at some of our amazing learning in 3K…

English / History

Our visit to Ribchester Roman Museum 09.01.24

We had a fabulous time learning about Romans at the museum. We talked about the invasion, handled artefacts and even tried on replica armour - it was extremely heavy! We then looked at 2000 year old ruins.

What a fantastic way to begin our theme of The Romans.

Science

In science, we looked at ingredients in foods and identified which food group they belonged to .

PE - Gymnastics

In gymnastics, we have been looking at combining actions of travelling and balancing on a number of points of our body and creating a sequence of actions with a partner.

Sponsored obstacle course event 02.10.23

Our visit to Queen Street Mill 02.10.23

We were so excited to go and see a real working cotton mill to support our learning in the Lancashire Cotton Industry. We looked at what life was like for children working in the mills and the different jobs people had. We then imagined we were children in a Victorian school - it was hard work!

We hope you enjoyed looking at our page!
