Our Butterflies have hatched!!!

We had a great half term. We read the stories  'The Very Hungry Caterpillar', 'Titch' and 'Jaspers Beanstalk'. We have learnt all about how to keep ourselves healthy and how to look after living things. We have explored the life cycle of a Butterfly and we have had our very own Caterpillars to look after. We made a healthy smoothie with different berries and fruit, this helped us to grow big and strong. We are planting our own beans and growing a beanstalk!

We are now starting our final term in Nursery. This term we will be learning all about journeys. We will read the stories 'Whatever next', 'The Train Ride' and 'We're going on a Bear Hunt.'

Nursery have had a huge interest in buses and soup making. We have combined this interest and we went on our school minibus to the local supermarket. We made a shopping list and bought ingredients to make vegetable soup! We had such a good time. The soup was delicious!! The afternoon children wrote a list and bought ingredients to make cakes. They were delicious!

We had a session from a Hind visitor who did some Bollywood dancing with us!

Welcome to Nursery

We are ‘The Little Stars’

We follow the Cherry Fold values: Enjoy, Respect, Succeed!

Welcome to CherryFold Primary School's nursery class where you will find Miss Hann (Nursery Teacher), Mrs Cullen and Mrs Pilling (Learning Support Assistants). We are also sometimes known as the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).

During your time in our nursery you will meet new friends, develop your independence skills, grow in confidence as well as learning lots of new exciting things.

In nursery you can attend the morning or afternoon session. We also offer 30 hours education. In nursery we learn lots of new things and we like to learn through play. We build confidence and develop relationships with our friends and teachers. We take part in small group work to learn phonics, numbers, sing songs and lots of other things. We focus on speaking and listening skills, fine and gross motor skills and working as a team.

To support you on your learning journey, we hope that you will get help from your parents and carers. They can talk to you about your nursery day, encourage you to be independent in your personal hygiene and dressing, such as putting on your own coat, and they can read a story to you before you go to bed.

We use Class Dojo to send pictures and messages home about what you have been doing and all the fantastic achievements you have made!

We want you to have fun whilst learning. Remember - Enjoy, Respect, Succeed!

Topic- Journeys

This half term we are learning all about different modes of transport and journeys we take. We will look at transport in the past compared to transport now and we will be deciding which mode of transport is best for each journey. We will be looking at different places you can go on a journey and talking about what we might see or what we might do. The children will be learning more about rhyme and alliteration, beginning to use their knowledge of letters in early writing. We will be talking about the journey we have had in Nursery and what will happen next for some children who are going to Reception. The children will be learning more about numbers to 10 and how to problem solve using their number knowledge. We will look at weighing and what is heavy and light. The children will be using different resources and materials to make their own mode of transport and develop a story about where they might go. This is our final term in Nursery and we are so proud of all the children and the progress they have made!

In Nursery we encourage positive behaviour and talk about what is acceptable and unacceptable. We also use a star chart system and when your child receives 10 stars they will get a prize.
