We started this half term by celebrating Pancake Day! We learnt to follow a recipe, add the ingredients and make a batter. We cooked our pancakes and learnt different words to describe this. The words sizzle and delicious were our favourites!
We loved having our parents and carers in for a story session! It was lovely to spend the time together sharing early reading skills.
Welcome to Nursery
We are ‘The Little Stars’
We follow the Cherry Fold values: Enjoy, Respect, Succeed!
Welcome to CherryFold Primary School's nursery class where you will find Miss Hann (Nursery Teacher), Mrs Cullen and Mrs Pilling (Learning Support Assistants). We are also sometimes known as the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
During your time in our nursery you will meet new friends, develop your independence skills, grow in confidence as well as learning lots of new exciting things.
In nursery you can attend the morning or afternoon session. We also offer 30 hours education. In nursery we learn lots of new things and we like to learn through play. We build confidence and develop relationships with our friends and teachers. We take part in small group work to learn phonics, numbers, sing songs and lots of other things. We focus on speaking and listening skills, fine and gross motor skills and working as a team.
To support you on your learning journey, we hope that you will get help from your parents and carers. They can talk to you about your nursery day, encourage you to be independent in your personal hygiene and dressing, such as putting on your own coat, and they can read a story to you before you go to bed.
We use Class Dojo to send pictures and messages home about what you have been doing and all the fantastic achievements you have made!
We want you to have fun whilst learning. Remember - Enjoy, Respect, Succeed!

Topic- New Life and Growing
This term we will be reading different stories linked to New Life and Growing. The children will learn about spring and the changes that take place in this season. We will learn about growing and life cycles, looking at what is needed to be healthy. The children will have a real life experience of looking after Caterpillars and watching them change to Butterflies. We will look at sorting and classifying and similarities and differences. The children will learn to sequence key events and use language linked to time. We will have a focus on describing 2d shapes alongside recognising numbers in different representations. We will investigate symmetry, pattern and colour mixing as well as creating models using joining techniques. We will explore growing our own plants and learning how to take care of these. The children will take responsibility for this. We will continue to look at the different parts of a book and how to handle books carefully. We will continue to build confidence and resilience, learning to do more things independently.
In Nursery we encourage positive behaviour and talk about what is acceptable and unacceptable. We also use a star chart system and when your child receives 10 stars they will get a prize.
