  3. Nursery - The Little Stars

What a start to the spring term.

Nursery have been reading 'The 3 Little Pigs'. We started our story by having the wolf visit Nursery and blow down our home corner. He dropped straw everywhere! We have learnt about heavy and light and what objects can be blown away. We have learnt what huff and puff means. We have investigated the wolf and made a wanted poster to describe him. We even had a think about how the wolf could make friends with the pigs. We made pictures by huffing and puffing to make bubbles.  Ask us about the story and what happens! We have also been reading the story 'Goldilocks'. We made a wanted poster for Goldilocks, acted out the story and we even dressed up as Goldilocks!

Nursery have had a huge interest in buses and soup making. We have combined this interest and we went on our school minibus to the local supermarket. We made a shopping list and bought ingredients to make vegetable soup! We had such a good time. The soup was delicious!! The afternoon children wrote a list and bought ingredients to make cakes. They were delicious!

We enjoyed our session with The Life Education, we learnt about our bodies and how to look after them.

Welcome to Nursery

We are ‘The Little Stars’

We follow the Cherry Fold values: Enjoy, Respect, Succeed!

Welcome to CherryFold Primary School's nursery class where you will find Miss Hann (Nursery Teacher), Mrs Cullen and Mrs Pilling (Learning Support Assistants). We are also sometimes known as the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).

During your time in our nursery you will meet new friends, develop your independence skills, grow in confidence as well as learning lots of new exciting things.

In nursery you can attend the morning or afternoon session. We also offer 30 hours education. In nursery we learn lots of new things and we like to learn through play. We build confidence and develop relationships with our friends and teachers. We take part in small group work to learn phonics, numbers, sing songs and lots of other things. We focus on speaking and listening skills, fine and gross motor skills and working as a team.

To support you on your learning journey, we hope that you will get help from your parents and carers. They can talk to you about your nursery day, encourage you to be independent in your personal hygiene and dressing, such as putting on your own coat, and they can read a story to you before you go to bed.

We use Class Dojo to send pictures and messages home about what you have been doing and all the fantastic achievements you have made!

We want you to have fun whilst learning. Remember - Enjoy, Respect, Succeed!

We will learn about their habitat and how they need looking after. We will learn about any pets we may have, as well as talking about pets we might like and why. We will be learning about the different countries we may find animals in and we will begin to collate facts about our favourite animals. The children will learn about patterns and linking animals to different patterns, such as stripes or spots. We will begin to create and recognise repeating patterns. Alongside this we will continue to practice careful counting and develop our number knowledge. We will focus on sorting and ordering by height or length. The children will be encouraged to work in teams to create structures and props for play. We will be looking at different tools, materials and resources to create. Alongside this we will be learning different songs and creating movements to match a beat. We will be learning to move in different ways, negotiating space and creating games with friends.

In Nursery we encourage positive behaviour and talk about what is acceptable and unacceptable. We also use a star chart system and when your child receives 10 stars they will get a prize.
