Welcome to R1 - The Smartest Giants!
Last half term, parents were invited to come and experience some of the activities available in reception and spend the afternoon working with their child. There were 6 activities set up, these included- gingerbread man making, card making, quick reading, trash and treasure, pick a picture to write a caption and writing about their learning. We were so impressed by the number of parents that joined us and are hoping for even more when we hold another next half term. We look forward to seeing you there!
We got great feedback from the parents and grandparents that attended and following your feedback will be offering a Maths one next. Some of the quotes from parents included:
‘It was really nice to see and learn with my child in their learning environment.’
‘Super session, well organised and themed towards learning.’
'A fantastic idea, will happily participate again.'
‘Lovely seeing how my son was in class and how happy he is in class.’
‘Its helped me understand the way they are learning and this helps at home.’
We were lucky enough to b visited by Tots on Tyres, this is where we learnt how to ride balance bikes confidently through playing different games like dinosaur feet and shark in the water. When we were confident using these we progressed to using 2 wheeler pedal bikes on the big yard!
We have been working hard to learn lots of letter sounds and using these to put sounds together to make words. We are now learning to write words, captions and sentences using this knowledge. Please practise your phonic rocket book at home.
Miss Bardney and Miss Hann took us on an adventure to the North Pole. We explored the different in temperature and wrapped up warm. We found different animals that lived there. We found some ‘snow’ that was crunchy. It was a great adventure but we were glad to come back to the much warmer Burnley.
Outside we have been developing an outdoor café to keep us warm on the chilly day, we serve tea. Coffee, hot chocolate and soup. We have been working together to take on the different roles and share resources. Next we will be using money.
